Actor and recording artist Jesse McCartney and his spouse, Katie Peterson, have welcomed the birth of their first child, delivered approximately three months prior to the anticipated due date.
Mr. McCartney, 38, and Ms. Peterson, 37, were lawfully wed in 2021, following a courtship that began in 2012 subsequent to their initial meeting at an establishment where Ms. Peterson was employed.
The couple publicly disclosed the pregnancy on February 14, stating that the expected due date for their child was August 8, 2025.
Subsequent to their initial pregnancy announcement, Mr. McCartney and Ms. Peterson disclosed that they were expecting a male child. They continued to share various moments from the pregnancy, including a video suggesting there was ongoing discussion—and some disagreement—regarding the child’s name.
Supporters were reportedly taken by surprise when the couple issued a joint public statement confirming that their son, named Archer, was born on May 7, 2025—approximately three months prior to the anticipated due date.
The announcement was accompanied by a series of five photographs introducing Archer to the public. The post received significant engagement, amassing in excess of 56,000 likes within an eight-hour period.
In a joint public statement dated May 7, 2025, the couple announced: “Archer James McCartney took center stage on 5/7/25. Our sweet Archie couldn’t wait to meet us and arrived a bit earlier than expected.”
They continued, expressing their deep affection for their son: “We are so in love with him. He loves when mommy reads him a book and when daddy sings him off to sleep.”
Given the premature nature of the birth, it appears that the child remains under medical supervision at the hospital. However, the couple indicated optimism regarding his progress, stating: “We look forward to bringing him home very soon to meet his big sister Bailey, who sleeps with his blanket every night,” referring to the family’s dog, Bailey.
The statement concluded warmly: “Enjoy some cute pictures of our little fighter, Archer.”
Accompanying the announcement were several photographs depicting the newborn: one featuring Archer in a white onesie trimmed with blue and monogrammed with his name; another showing him swaddled in a light blue satin cloth; a third capturing him beside an oversized teddy bear; and a final image humorously capturing the infant mid-sneeze. Despite his premature arrival, commenters noted the child appeared healthy and well.#newsafro_
