Super Eagles central defender, Mr. Calvin Bassey, has officially been conferred with the 2024/25 Fulham Football Club Player of the Season Award, following a highly commendable performance throughout the Premier League campaign. This recognition is the result of a fan-conducted voting process, in which Mr. Bassey secured an overwhelming 39.6% of total votes cast, according to verified reports by PUNCH Sports Extra.
Mr. Bassey’s distinction in the poll placed him ahead of fellow Nigerian international Mr. Alex Iwobi, who garnered 21.5%, and Mr. Antonee Robinson, who received 19.9% of the vote. Goalkeeper Mr. Bernd Leno and midfielder Mr. Saša Lukić followed with 10.9% and 8.1%, respectively, thus completing the top five.
Aged 25, Mr. Bassey initially joined Fulham FC from Dutch club AFC Ajax during the summer transfer window of 2023. Notably, this is his second consecutive year being shortlisted for the award, having previously finished as runner-up during his debut season with the West London club.
