Over the weekend, Mr. Ben Affleck, aged 52, found himself in the somewhat awkward position of serving as the third party during a dinner engagement with his longtime friend, Mr. Matt Damon, aged 54, and Mr. Damon’s spouse, Ms. Luciana Barroso, aged 48, whom he married in 2005.
The trio convened at Steak 48 in Beverly Hills on Sunday evening. Notably, the dinner occurred mere hours after Mr. Affleck playfully teased Mr. Damon regarding his notably full gray beard—grown for his forthcoming adaptation of The Odyssey—during their joint appearance at Netflix’s Tudum event held at the Kia Forum in Los Angeles.
Both Mr. Affleck and Mr. Damon were present at the Netflix Tudum event to present the initial footage from their forthcoming action film, The Rip. Subsequently, they proceeded to enjoy a late dinner in Beverly Hills.
For the dinner engagement, Mr. Affleck was observed attired in a black T-shirt beneath a black leather jacket, paired with blue jeans and black boots.
Mr. Damon, a longtime friend of Mr. Affleck, elected to wear a white, short-sleeved button-down shirt, paired with gray trousers and white sneakers for the occasion.
It is plausible that Mr. Affleck sought to spend quality time with his close friend and his spouse as he continues to move forward following his recent divorce from Ms. Jennifer Lopez.
Mr. Damon has grown his gray beard to portray the character of Odysseus in director Christopher Nolan’s highly anticipated adaptation of Homer’s classical Greek epic.
Principal photography for the film commenced in late February and includes a cast featuring Mr. Tom Holland, Ms. Zendaya, Ms. Anne Hathaway, Mr. Robert Pattinson, and Ms. Charlize Theron. The current status of filming completion remains unconfirmed.
During their appearance on stage, Mr. Affleck humorously remarked, “I trusted Matt would shave the beard before Tudum. And here we are.”
The pair also introduced their co-stars Ms. Teyana Taylor, Mr. Steven Yeun, and Ms. Catalina Sandino Moreno.
In the film, Mr. Affleck and Mr. Damon portray Miami police officers whose team’s trust begins to deteriorate upon discovering millions of dollars in cash within an abandoned stash house. The crime drama, directed by Joe Carnahan, is scheduled for release on January 16 on Netflix.
Mr. Carnahan disclosed at the Tudum event, “The Rip came out of a deeply personal experience that my friend went through, both as a father and as head of tactical narcotics for the Miami-Dade Police Department.”
He further explained, “It’s inspired in part by his life and then, by my enduring love for those classic seventies cop thrillers that really valued character and interpersonal relationships and became touchstones of that era—films like Serpico and Prince of the City and, more recently, Michael Mann’s Heat.”#newsafro_
