James Argent has made his first public appearance following the imposition of a suspended custodial sentence for the offence of assault, specifically for pushing his former partner, Nicoline Arthursson, down a flight of steps in Spain.
The 37-year-old former cast member of The Only Way Is Essex was observed performing alongside his ensemble, the ‘Arg Band’, during a charity event hosted at the Connaught Rooms in London on Friday evening.
In a video posted to Instagram by an attendee, James Argent appeared in formal evening attire—a black tuxedo—while performing at the ‘Fight Night’ boxing-themed charity event held in support of the Wickers Charity.
Argent delivered renditions of several songs, including Rick Astley’s 1987 hit Never Gonna Give You Up, appearing relaxed and untroubled as he danced and sang on stage.
He was further observed posing for a photograph alongside another performer and the event guest who shared the video.
MailOnline has reached out to representatives for Mr. Argent for an official comment.
It was previously reported that Mr. James Argent was scheduled to resume public performances, marking his first on-stage appearance since the imposition of his suspended sentence. He was also said to be contemplating a formal public statement regarding the incident.
According to The Mirror, Mr. Argent was expected to headline a performance on Thursday evening, having largely remained out of the public eye since the matter became public. The publication further cited unnamed sources indicating that Mr. Argent is considering publicly addressing the incident to present his account and facilitate personal and professional closure.
Mr. Argent, lead vocalist of The Arg Band, is known for regular performances at Olivia’s La Cala, a Marbella-based restaurant owned by his associate, Mr. Elliott Wright, aged 44.
MailOnline previously reached out to Mr. Argent’s representatives for comment.
This development follows Mr. Argent’s initial remarks after facing domestic violence charges, during which he responded to public speculation suggesting a relapse into substance abuse.
The former TOWIE personality was sentenced to a six-month term of imprisonment, suspended, and was further subjected to a two-year restraining order prohibiting contact with former partner Nicoline Arthursson, following an altercation in Spain during which he was found to have forcefully pushed Ms. Arthursson down a set of stairs.
Public concern has since emerged regarding whether Mr. Argent’s conduct may have been influenced by a potential relapse into prior patterns of substance misuse, which previously necessitated multiple periods of rehabilitation.#newsafro_
