Ms. Taylor Swift has issued a forceful and unequivocal response following her formal subpoena as a witness in the ongoing legal dispute between Ms. Blake Lively and Mr. Justin Baldoni. The subpoena, served by Mr. Baldoni’s counsel, Mr. Bryan Freedman, on Friday, seeks Ms. Swift’s testimony concerning events surrounding the production of the 2024 film It Ends With Us.
Representatives for Ms. Swift have sharply criticized the subpoena, asserting that her involvement in the matter at issue was minimal and insufficient to warrant her compulsory participation in the proceedings.
A representative for Ms. Taylor Swift issued a strongly worded statement to DailyMail.com, categorically refuting any substantive involvement by Ms. Swift in the production of It Ends With Us. The statement read:
“Taylor Swift never set foot on the set of this movie. She was not involved in any casting or creative decisions, did not score the film, never viewed an edit, nor did she provide any notes. She did not even see It Ends With Us until several weeks after its public release, having spent 2023 and 2024 engaged in an international tour widely recognized as the largest in history.”
The representative further clarified that Ms. Swift’s sole connection to the film was the licensed use of her track My Tears Ricochet, from her 2020 album Folklore, noting that 19 other artists had similarly licensed songs.
The statement concluded: “Given that her only involvement was the licensing of a single track—a practice shared by numerous other artists—this subpoena appears to be a calculated attempt to exploit Ms. Swift’s name for publicity purposes, generating tabloid sensationalism rather than addressing the substantive issues at hand in the litigation.”#newsafro_
