Following a fatal road traffic incident on the Lagos-Ibadan Expressway resulting in five confirmed fatalities and multiple injuries, the Ogun State Traffic Compliance and Enforcement Corps (TRACE) has formally issued a cautionary advisory to motorists against excessive speeding.
The warning arises from an accident involving a commercial Mazda bus and a truck, which occurred at the Carpark C section of the expressway. Preliminary findings indicate that the truck was executing a turning manoeuvre when the bus, allegedly traveling at an unsafe speed, collided with it.
TRACE, through its spokesperson, reiterated the statutory duty of drivers to adhere to prescribed speed limits and exercise due caution to prevent avoidable loss of life and injuries on public highways.
According to an official traffic report issued by the spokesperson for the Ogun State Traffic Compliance and Enforcement Agency (TRACE), Mr. Babatunde Akinbiyi, the incident occurred when a Mazda commercial bus, reportedly operating at excessive speed, collided with a truck executing a turning manoeuvre in the aforementioned area.
The agency has reiterated the imperative of strict compliance with road safety regulations and cautioned against reckless driving behaviours likely to result in fatal consequences.#newsafro_
