Enyimba FC has confirmed the departure of head coach Yemi Olanrewaju, citing a series of disappointing results over the past two months as the reason for the change. The club has appointed Stanley Eguma, the former coach of Rivers United, as Olanrewaju’s replacement. Although pictures of Eguma’s unveiling at the club surfaced shortly after the announcement, an official statement from the club regarding his appointment has yet to be released.
Enyimba FC expressed gratitude to Coach Yemi Olanrewaju for his contributions to the club, stating, “The club thanks Coach Olanrewaju for his services and wishes him the best in his future endeavours.” This follows the confirmation of his departure after a series of underwhelming performances.
A source within Enyimba FC revealed to PUNCH Sports Extra that Coach Yemi Olanrewaju was dismissed on Saturday, shortly after returning from Jos, where the team had played a goalless draw against Plateau United in a rescheduled NPFL match-day 18 game. Meanwhile, Stanley Eguma had already been introduced to the press in Aba as his replacement.
