The premiere of The Waiter at Livespot Entertarium in Lekki, Lagos, was a spectacular affair, with Nollywood’s elite and key figures from the entertainment industry gracing the event. The evening began with a dazzling red carpet, where celebrities showcased stunning ensembles, setting the tone for a glamorous celebration.
AY, the comedic mastermind and executive producer of the film, made a grand entrance, sharing his excitement for the project. Speaking enthusiastically about the film, AY highlighted its creative journey as The Waiter officially debuted in cinemas nationwide on Friday, December 20.
“I’m thrilled to share this story with the world,” AY expressed. “‘The Waiter’ is not just a comedy, but, as we’ve done with the Akpos film series, it carries many teachable moments that we can learn from as individuals and as a country. It’s a story about resilience, humility, and finding one’s purpose in unexpected places.”
Producer Darlington Abuda also shared his thoughts, calling The Waiter the best installment in the Akpos franchise. “If you’ve followed the Akpos movies, which have showcased some of Nollywood’s finest talent, you’ll know we always have something special in store,” Abuda said, hinting at the excitement surrounding the film.
