According to insider reports, Justin Bieber has expressed his hope that his former girlfriend, Selena Gomez, finds happiness following the news of her engagement to music producer Benny Blanco. Sources have suggested, however, that the announcement left Bieber feeling “stung.”
The pair, who were involved in a widely publicized on-again, off-again relationship from 2010 to 2018, ended their romance before Bieber, now 30, married Hailey Baldwin.
Last week, Gomez, 32, shared images of her stunning marquise-cut diamond ring on social media, confirming the proposal from Blanco, 36.
Insiders have disclosed to DailyMail.com that while Justin Bieber is contentedly focused on his life with Hailey Baldwin and their infant son, Jack, he has acknowledged that Selena Gomez’s engagement symbolizes the definitive conclusion of a significant chapter in his past.
“Justin is happily married and has a child, which everyone knows,” the source stated. “But upon learning of Selena’s engagement, even he admits it stung momentarily. Although there is no prospect of rekindling a friendship or relationship, this marks the undeniable end of an era.”
The former couple’s connection first gained attention when Justin serenaded Selena with his song One Less Lonely Girl during Dick Clark’s New Year’s Rockin’ Eve in 2009.
The pair initially denied romance rumors throughout 2010, with Selena Gomez famously referring to Justin Bieber as her “little brother.” However, later that year, they began attending red carpet events together and embarked on an on-again, off-again relationship.
Their romance faced a notable disruption in April 2014, when Selena allegedly discovered texts and photos from Kylie Jenner on Justin’s phone, prompting a breakup. By the end of the year, the two reconciled briefly, with Justin sharing a photo of them captioned, “Our love is unconditional.” The reunion was short-lived, and they split again in October.
In October 2017, Justin and Selena reignited speculation after being spotted having breakfast together and attending church services. Over the following months, they were frequently seen together, enjoying bike rides and attending hockey games. However, by March 2018, the relationship ended definitively.
Reflecting on the engagement, the source added: “Justin’s past is deeply intertwined with Selena, and the news of her engagement—combined with his own role as a husband and father—serves as a poignant reminder of the passage of time. While Justin is only 30, he has experienced a full and eventful life. This marks a definitive closure on a significant chapter, just as he has moved on himself. Ultimately, he hopes Selena is well and happy.”
Justin Bieber and Hailey Baldwin formalized their union in September 2018, just six months after Justin’s final breakup with Selena Gomez. Recently, the couple welcomed their first child, a son named Jack Blues Bieber, in August.
After years of speculation surrounding a purported feud between Hailey and Selena, as well as ongoing calls for Justin and Selena to reunite, a source disclosed that Justin hopes the engagement news will bring an end to the relentless online discourse. “He hopes this will finally lead fans to stop stanning that relationship. It’s been over for years, and this should put the nail in the coffin,” the source stated.
Hailey Bieber appeared to align with this sentiment by showing public support for Selena and her fiancé, Benny Blanco. The founder of Rhode Beauty, 28, liked an Instagram post showcasing Selena’s marquise-cut engagement ring and a heartwarming photo of Benny embracing her, while Selena beamed with her left hand over her mouth. Selena captioned the post, “Forever begins now…” alongside a series of candid moments from the proposal.
The apparent show of support follows years of speculation about a feud between the two women, stemming from perceived social media exchanges that began after Hailey married Justin.
