Kim Kardashian is not stepping in to help Mackenzie Shirilla with any legal appeal, despite the convicted inmate’s apparent request for assistance, Newsafro.com has learned.
According to a recorded phone call obtained by PEOPLE and made while Shirilla was being held at the Cuyahoga County Corrections Center in Ohio, she expressed interest in having Kardashian involved in her case and even suggested she wanted the reality star to serve as her lawyer.
However, a source close to Kardashian tells Newsafro.com that the SKIMS founder has no intention of getting involved. The insider explained that Kardashian’s criminal justice reform work is focused on individuals she believes were wrongfully convicted or inmates who have shown rehabilitation and may deserve a second chance — a category they say this case does not fall under.
Shirilla was convicted in 2023 of murder, aggravated vehicular homicide, and other charges tied to a 2022 crash that killed her boyfriend, Dominic Russo, and friend Davion Flanagan.
The case has recently regained public attention following the release of a Netflix documentary titled “The Crash,” which features interviews with Shirilla, her family, and relatives of the victims, reigniting debate around the tragedy and its circumstances.#newsafro_
