Reality TV star Spencer Pratt says years of receiving death threats during his time in the spotlight played a major role in shaping his political views — ultimately leading him to identify as a Republican and support gun ownership.
During a recent interview with CNN journalist Elex Michaelson, the former The Hills star opened up about the personal experiences that influenced his political stance.
Pratt explained that while he was one of reality TV’s most controversial figures, he faced intense backlash and threats that made him fear for his safety. According to him, his security team advised both him and his wife, Heidi Montag, to purchase firearms for protection while living in Los Angeles.
He also revealed that the couple obtained concealed carry permits, commonly known as CCWs, adding that support for gun rights from the Republican Party aligned with his concerns about personal and family safety.
Pratt is currently campaigning in the race for mayor of Los Angeles, where he will face incumbent mayor Karen Bass, city council member Nithya Raman, and several other candidates ahead of the June 2 election.#newsafro_
