It’s a legal win for Denise Richards, who has successfully protected her earnings from being targeted over her estranged husband’s financial troubles.
A Los Angeles judge has ruled that Richards’ paychecks cannot be seized to cover a substantial debt owed by her ex, Aaron Phypers. The decision comes after a debt collection agency attempted to access her income following a default judgment against Phypers totaling $228,000 from an unpaid loan.
The creditor had argued that, as his spouse at the time, Richards’ wages and assets could be used to help satisfy the debt. However, the court rejected that request, effectively shielding the actress from being held financially responsible.
The ruling arrives amid an already complicated chapter in their relationship. Richards and Phypers split last year, with the actress later obtaining a restraining order after alleging domestic violence — claims he has denied.
Phypers is also facing additional financial pressure, including another separate default judgment reportedly totaling $160,000.
For Richards, the court’s decision marks a clear boundary — ensuring that her career earnings remain her own despite the legal and personal issues surrounding her estranged husband.#newsafro_
