Pooh Shiesty fans will have to wait a while before hearing new music from the rapper, as he remains behind bars following his latest federal arrest. A judge has ruled that no combination of bail conditions would guarantee public safety, citing Shiesty’s prior criminal record and history of violence.
The rapper, whose real name is Lontrell Williams, was arrested last week alongside several alleged co-conspirators, including his own father. Prosecutors claim Shiesty and his crew kidnapped and robbed fellow rapper Gucci Mane in a scheme to help Shiesty get out of a recording contract with Mane’s label.
Shiesty’s attorney, Bradford Cohen, has pushed back against the allegations, saying the prosecution’s case may not hold up under scrutiny. “We’re going to examine the accuracy of the statements from alleged victims and what they allegedly told investigators,” Cohen said. “I’m not sure those individuals said what is said in the indictment.”
For now, the rapper remains in lockup, with fans left wondering when—or if—he will return to the studio.#newsafro_
