Victoria Villarroel, a former personal assistant to Kylie Jenner, has opened up about why she left her high-profile role.
Villarroel, 34, who worked with Jenner during the early days of her makeup empire, revealed on the Better Half With Stas + Alexis podcast that the decision came down to the challenges of being too close to someone she saw every day.
“Obviously me and Kylie had a working relationship, but you can’t not get so close with a person you see every single day,” she said. “You know everything about them, you’re with them at all times—good or bad.”
She recounted a moment in the kitchen where Jenner asked for her laptop, and Villarroel realized she had become too comfortable and that their professional boundaries were blurring. Both agreed it was time to end the working relationship.
Villarroel admitted she was nervous about leaving what she called “the best job I could ever have,” especially with people advising her not to quit a role “people would die for.” Yet Jenner supported her decision, telling her, “Oh my God, Vic, I want you to thrive and I’m going to be here supporting you and I love you so much.”
Though she stepped down as Jenner’s assistant in January 2020, the two remain close friends. They were recently spotted together in February at the Nahmias x Maxfield Pop-Up Event in Los Angeles, alongside friends including entity[“people”,”Anastasia Karanikolaou”,”social media personality”], “,”Zack Ashley”,”entrepreneur”], and Doni Nahmias#newsafro_
