Teyana Taylor refused to let a tense moment with security overshadow what turned out to be one of the biggest nights of her career at the Academy Awards.
The actress and singer was spotted shortly after a heated exchange with an Oscars security guard, but she made it clear the incident wasn’t going to ruin her celebration.
Speaking after the moment, Taylor brushed off the confrontation, saying security was simply doing a bit too much. “Security was just doing a lot … there’s always that one,” she said.
The confrontation happened moments after Taylor joined her castmates from One Battle After Another onstage to accept their statuettes for Best Picture. As the group exited the stage, a security guard stopped Taylor and briefly put his hands on her, prompting an immediate reaction.
Video from the scene showed Taylor angrily confronting the guard. Later, she explained her reaction, saying she does not tolerate being disrespected, especially when it comes without warning.
“I just don’t tolerate disrespect — especially when it’s unwarranted and unprovoked,” she said.
Despite the awkward moment, the night was still a massive success for Taylor and her castmates. One Battle After Another dominated the awards ceremony, taking home six Oscars, including Best Picture, Best Director, Best Casting, Best Supporting Actor, Best Editing, and Best Adapted Screenplay.
