Despite earning a historic 16 nominations, Sinners ultimately fell short of the top honor at the Academy Awards, losing the Best Picture award to One Battle After Another.
The victory sparked an enthusiastic reaction from Teyana Taylor, who nearly tackled director Paul Thomas Anderson as he made his way to the stage to accept the award. The Best Picture trophy marked Anderson’s third win of the evening after also taking home honors for Best Director and Best Adapted Screenplay.
