“Married to Medicine: Los Angeles” star Lia Jones is asking a judge to change her child custody arrangement following her bitter divorce from Colin Dias. She is seeking a 50/50 legal and physical custody split to spend more time with their two children.
In recently obtained court documents, Jones acknowledges that Dias provides financially for the kids but claims he has fallen short in addressing their emotional needs. She describes her bond with the children as strong, loving, and supportive, saying it has never been better.
Jones alleges that Dias moved the children to Lake Elsinore, California, apparently to distance them from her, forcing her to make four-hour round trips from Los Angeles several times a week just to be with them. She also raised concerns about her son, noting multiple school detentions for fighting and suicidal messages found on his phone—issues she claims his father was unaware of.
The original divorce settlement gave Dias sole legal and physical custody, and Jones had to complete monitored visits under a restraining order for a year. Since then, she has completed a 52-week domestic violence program, participated in therapy, and attended parenting and anger management classes. After three years of monitored visits, she is now asking the court to grant her a revised custody arrangement that provides greater access to her children.
The court has scheduled mediation between Jones and Dias to discuss the custody dispute, with a hearing set for May to consider her request.#newsafro_
