A legal dispute has emerged within the family of D’Wayne Wiggins, singer and guitarist for Tony! Toni! Toné!, regarding the administration of his estate nearly a year after his passing.
Court documents obtained by TMZ indicate that Wiggins’ daughter, Ilahn Wiggins, asserts that her late father left an estate valued at approximately $700,000 following his death in March 2025 in Oakland, California, after a battle with cancer. Ilahn claims she has two brothers and that Wiggins had married a new spouse, Dori Wiggins, shortly before his death.
According to the filing, Ilahn contends that the individual listed on her father’s death certificate is his niece, Veleta Savannah. She alleges that Veleta informed Wiggins’ children that she was the trustee of the estate and barred them from accessing his residence. Ilahn further claims that Veleta used a Power of Attorney to withdraw $20,000 from Wiggins’ bank account.
Ilahn and her siblings dispute Veleta’s authority as estate administrator and assert that their father did not intend to alter his will to disinherit them in the months preceding his death. They maintain that the final will was executed while Wiggins was receiving end-of-life care and under heavy medication, potentially impacting his mental capacity.
Veleta, however, contests these claims, stating that Wiggins was of sound mind when he modified his will and that he intended to disinherit his children.
A trial to resolve the matter has been scheduled for September. The dispute centers on the validity of the will, the administration of Wiggins’ estate, and the rightful heirs to his assets.#newsafro_
