David Ramsey, 54, publicly disclosed during a recent episode of Inside of You, hosted by Michael Rosenbaum, that he previously underwent treatment for testicular cancer earlier in his career.
Ramsey stated that the diagnosis occurred years ago and required surgical intervention and chemotherapy, resulting in the removal of one testicle. He explained that he chose not to make the matter public at the time, attributing the decision to his generally private and reserved disposition rather than any reluctance to discuss the issue. He further noted that increasing rates of testicular cancer influenced his decision to now speak openly in order to promote awareness.
According to Ramsey, he first detected a potential issue while training in kickboxing and observing a significant change in size in one testicle. He sought medical evaluation, after which physicians initially recommended periodic monitoring. Over time, medical imaging revealed microlithiasis, a condition identifiable via ultrasound that can, in some cases, warrant closer observation due to potential associated risks.
Ramsey indicated that the experience materially altered his personal outlook and professional perspective, fostering a heightened sense of gratitude for career opportunities.
Professionally, Ramsey is widely recognized for portraying John Diggle/Spartan in the CW television series Arrow, and for reprising the role across related franchise series including The Flash, Legends of Tomorrow, Supergirl, Batwoman, and Superman & Lois. His earlier television credits include recurring roles on Dexter and Blue Bloods, as well as a lead role in the UPN sitcom Good News. More recently, he appeared in the reboot series Bel-Air.#newsafro_
