Wai Ching Ho, the veteran actress celebrated for her memorable performances in Marvel’s Daredevil, Iron Fist, and The Defenders, has died at the age of 82.
News of her passing was shared by several former co-stars, who paid tribute to her talent, kindness, and lasting impact on their lives. Actor Peter Shinkoda, who appeared alongside Ho in Daredevil, posted a heartfelt message recalling the lessons he learned from her both on and off set. He expressed gratitude for their time together and said he hoped they would meet again someday.
Actress Judy Lei, Ho’s co-star in The World’s Greatest, also honored the late actress with an emotional tribute. Lei remembered Ho’s patience and generosity during filming, noting that despite her own lack of experience, Ho always offered guidance and encouragement without hesitation.
Ho began her acting career in 1990 with a small role in the Robin Williams comedy Cadillac Man. Over the following decades, she built an impressive résumé with appearances in films and television series including A Price Above Rubies, Law & Order: Criminal Intent, and Premium Rush.
She became widely recognized by Marvel fans for portraying the mysterious and formidable Madame Gao, a role she reprised across Daredevil, Iron Fist, and The Defenders. The performance introduced her to a global audience and helped pave the way for more prominent roles.
Following her success in the Marvel universe, Ho appeared in the hit crime drama Hustlers alongside Jennifer Lopez, voiced a character in Pixar’s acclaimed animated film Turning Red, and featured in multiple episodes of Awkwafina Is Nora from Queens.
Her final screen project, a short film titled Here and Again, has yet to be released.
