The Pussycat Dolls made a fiery return to the American Music Awards on Monday night, delivering one of the most talked-about performances of the evening alongside a show-stopping set from Karol G.
Group members Nicole Scherzinger, Ashley Roberts and Kimberly Wyatt hit the stage at the MGM Grand Garden Arena in Las Vegas wearing matching red latex bodysuits as they reunited for their first AMAs performance together since 2006. The trio thrilled fans with a medley of hits including “Don’t Cha,” “Buttons,” “When I Grow Up,” and “Club Song,” with a surprise appearance from Busta Rhymes during the performance.
The comeback follows the group’s reunion announcement earlier this year, although former members Jessica Sutta, Melody Thornton and Carmit Bachar were notably absent. Bachar recently claimed she had been excluded from plans for the group’s reboot and upcoming tour.
Elsewhere during the star-studded show, Karol G dazzled the crowd during her first-ever AMAs performance. The Colombian superstar took the stage in a shimmering silver dress to perform “Ivonny Bonita” from her album Tropicoqueta.
Later in the evening, Karol G earned major honors including the International Artist Award of Excellence and Best Latin Album for Tropicoqueta. The singer continues a landmark year after becoming the first Latina artist to headline Coachella earlier this year.
Other standout performers included Teyana Taylor, who delivered a futuristic performance in a metallic outfit, and rising artist Sombr, who wowed the audience with a rain-soaked rendition of “Homewrecker” after winning Best Rock/Alternative Song.#newsafro_
