The Ogun State Police Command has confirmed that TikTok user Mirabel, whose posts alleging sexual assault sparked widespread attention online, has been discharged from the hospital but remains in police custody to assist with the ongoing investigation.
Police Public Relations Officer Oluseyi Babaseyi explained that Mirabel initially appeared incoherent when providing her account at the Ibafo Police Division, prompting officers to take her to a state hospital for immediate medical attention. She was admitted to the ICU for evaluation and treatment, though she was never arrested, with authorities emphasizing that her welfare was a priority.
Following her discharge, Mirabel continues to cooperate with investigators to establish the facts surrounding her claims. Her viral TikTok video alleged that an unidentified individual broke into her home in Ogijo, Ogun State, sexually assaulted her, and sent threatening messages, and that the trauma led to a suicide attempt.
The police urged the public to rely on verified information, noting that Mirabel voluntarily reported the incident and that reports of her arrest for allegedly fabricating the claims are false. The command stressed that the case is being handled professionally and that the investigation is ongoing to determine the validity of the allegations.#newsafro_
