Abike Raheem, widely known as Papaya Ex, has alleged that she was assaulted by a police officer during a late-night encounter in the Ajah area of Lagos State.
In a TikTok live session on Friday, Papaya Ex claimed that what began as a routine stop while returning from a shoot escalated into physical violence and inappropriate conduct. She stated that the officer struck her in the face with a gun, assaulted her driver, touched her inappropriately, and forcibly confiscated her mobile phone. She also alleged that the officer slapped her and struck her buttocks and breasts. While the incident was not captured on video, Papaya Ex displayed visible injuries on her face during the live broadcast.
The influencer highlighted that harassment by police officers is a recurring problem in the Ajah area, describing her experience as part of a broader pattern. Videos circulating online show a heated exchange between Papaya Ex and an officer, though the full context and authenticity of the claims have not been independently verified.
The allegations have prompted widespread concern on social media, with users calling for an official investigation. As of now, the Lagos State Police Command has not released a statement regarding the incident.#newsafro_
