A member of the Los Angeles–based girl group Katseye has formally announced a temporary hiatus, prompting an outpouring of reaction from fans.
Manon Bannerman, 23, confirmed she will step back from group activities in order to prioritize her “health and wellbeing.” Bannerman has been part of the six-member ensemble since its formation in 2023 under Hybe and Geffen Records. The group also comprises Daniela Avanzini, Lara Raj, Megan Skiendiel, Sophia Laforteza, and Yoonchae Jeung.
In a joint statement released Friday, the group indicated that, following “open and thoughtful conversations,” Bannerman would be taking a temporary hiatus to focus on her personal well-being. The remaining five members will continue with scheduled activities during her absence, with the group expressing support for her decision and appreciation for their fanbase, known as EYEKONS.
Fans quickly responded across social media platforms, conveying disappointment while also expressing encouragement and solidarity. Many messages emphasized support for Bannerman’s recovery and affirmed anticipation for her eventual return.
Katseye was formed through the 2023 reality competition series Dream Academy. The group released its debut single “Debut” in 2024, followed by “Touch,” and later the EP SIS (Soft Is Strong). In 2025, the group issued the single “Gnarly,” featured on their second EP Beautiful Chaos. Another track from the project, “Gabriela,” achieved a top 25 placement on the Billboard Hot 100 and received a nomination for Best Pop Duo/Group Performance at the 2026 Grammy Awards.
The group most recently performed as a full six-member unit at the 2026 Grammy Awards. In late 2025, Katseye concluded The Beautiful Chaos Tour in Mexico City.
Previously, members have spoken publicly about the pressures associated with rapid global recognition, including online harassment. In interviews with Rolling Stone and Associated Press, Bannerman and fellow members discussed the psychological impact of public scrutiny and emphasized the importance of mental health support, including engagement with a group therapist.
No timeline has been announced regarding Bannerman’s return to group activities.#newsafro_
