Bunnie Xo has disclosed in her memoir, Stripped Down: Unfiltered and Unapologetic, that discovering her husband’s extramarital affair caused her severe emotional distress, including a period in which she contemplated taking her own life.
According to her account, she began suspecting that her husband, country music artist Jelly Roll (born Jason Bradley DeFord), was unfaithful in 2018, approximately two years after their 2016 marriage, during a particularly strained period in their relationship. She described experiencing depression after he temporarily moved out of their Nashville residence following a significant dispute.
Bunnie stated that although Jelly Roll initially denied any infidelity, she later received confirmation from a third party that he had maintained a roughly ten-month affair with a former romantic partner. Upon learning this information, she wrote that she experienced overwhelming emotional pain and briefly contemplated suicide. She ultimately chose not to act on those thoughts and instead relocated to Las Vegas, resulting in a three-month separation.
Following the separation, Jelly Roll reportedly pledged transparency and reconciliation. However, Bunnie asserted that she later discovered continued communication between him and the former partner, prompting her to independently obtain evidence of the affair, including messages and other documentation. She stated that the emotional component of the relationship, rather than solely the physical aspect, was particularly distressing.
Despite the betrayal, Bunnie elected to continue the marriage, acknowledging that reconciliation was neither immediate nor uncomplicated and required years of emotional processing and conflict resolution.
Jelly Roll has since publicly acknowledged the affair, describing it as one of the most regrettable periods of his adult life and affirming that he undertook significant efforts to repair the marriage. The couple, who married in 2016, renewed their vows in 2023. Jelly Roll has two children from prior relationships.
