During ongoing child custody proceedings concerning his daughter, Imade Adeleke, Davido mistakenly targeted Nigerian gospel musician Tosin Bee in an online post, believing him to be connected to a lawyer involved in the case.
The incident occurred following a contentious court appearance at the Lagos State High Court, Yaba, where Davido expressed anger toward Ebelechukwu Enedah, counsel to his estranged partner, Sophia Momodu. Davido’s frustration reportedly stemmed from a perceived remark regarding his deceased son during cross-examination. In a now-deleted Instagram story, Davido reposted content from Tosin Bee, mistakenly alleging that the gospel artist had a personal connection to the lawyer and her family.
Tosin Bee issued a public clarification, emphasizing that he had no connection to the lawyer and that his mother had passed away eight years prior. He extended prayers to Davido and described the situation as a case of mistaken identity.
The episode generated widespread social media discussion, with users condemning the harassment and some noting the incident inadvertently increased Tosin Bee’s visibility.
Separately, Davido confirmed via X that he would be withdrawing his custody motion, clarifying that he had sought joint—not sole—custody of Imade Adeleke. He noted that the decision followed what he considered an inappropriate reference to his deceased son during the proceedings.
Davido’s originating motion, filed under suit number LD/1587PMC/2024 on April 17, 2024, requested either joint custody of Miss Imade Adeleke or, alternatively, unfettered and unrestricted access. In his supporting affidavit, Davido highlighted his financial contributions to his daughter’s education and consistent involvement in her upbringing. Despite the legal tension, Imade continues to maintain contact with both parents, including participation in extracurricular activities and recent talent contests.#newsafro_
