Rochelle McLean, the estranged spouse of Backstreet Boys member AJ McLean, has publicly disclosed that she was hospitalized after experiencing unexplained abdominal pain.
Ms. McLean, 44, shared via social media that she presented to the emergency department earlier in the week with severe abdominal bloating and pain localized to the right side of her abdomen, prompting concerns that the symptoms could be related to appendicitis. Subsequent diagnostic imaging revealed a cecal volvulus, a serious medical condition involving a twisting and obstruction of the colon.
As a result of the diagnosis, Ms. McLean was taken directly into surgery, during which the affected portion of her colon was removed and the remaining healthy sections were surgically reconnected. She noted that she had no prior awareness of the condition and emphasized the importance of seeking immediate medical attention when symptoms arise, stating that delayed treatment could have resulted in significantly more severe consequences.
In her statement, Ms. McLean expressed gratitude toward the surgeons, physicians, and nursing staff involved in her care and indicated hope for a prompt discharge and recovery.
AJ McLean, 48, married Rochelle in 2011, and the couple share two children.
