Jason Momoa and Emilia Clarke, former co-stars of HBO’s Game of Thrones, reunited publicly for the first time in 15 years during a surprise encounter in New York City.
The 46-year-old actor visited Clarke, 39, while she was taping an appearance on The Kelly Clarkson Show. Clarke shared the reunion on Instagram, captioning a photo of the pair, “New York has given me so many things to be grateful for on this trip, and just when I thought it couldn’t get any better…look who walked into my dressing room,” adding the hashtags #mydragondaddy and #westillgotit.
Their reunion marks a decade and a half since they first appeared together on the inaugural season of the widely acclaimed fantasy series, which premiered in 2011. Clarke played Daenerys Targaryen, the exiled royal, while Momoa portrayed Khal Drogo, the Dothraki warlord and her character’s on-screen husband. Although Momoa’s role concluded in the first season, the series significantly elevated both actors’ careers.
Since Game of Thrones, Momoa has transitioned into a high-profile film career, starring as Aquaman in the DC Extended Universe and appearing in Dune (2021), Fast X (2023), and A Minecraft Movie (2025). He is currently promoting the Amazon Prime Video buddy cop comedy The Wrecking Crew, co-starring Dave Bautista.
Clarke has also maintained a prominent screen presence, leading films such as Terminator: Genisys (2015), Solo: A Star Wars Story (2018), Me Before You (2016), and Last Christmas (2019). She is currently promoting her Peacock series Ponies and will appear alongside Momoa’s girlfriend, Adria Arjona, in the upcoming Amazon series Criminal.
Clarke has publicly reflected on the challenges following the end of Game of Thrones, describing experiencing a “full mental breakdown” and stating she is done working in the fantasy genre. She has also spoken about surviving two brain hemorrhages in 2011 and 2013, which required surgery and left her with titanium implants and scarring, experiences that profoundly affected her perspective on life and her career.
The Instagram reunion highlighted the enduring camaraderie between the two actors, showing that despite the passage of time, their professional bond remains strong.#newsafro_
