Erika Jayne has publicly addressed the status of her current romantic relationship with John “Shrek” McPhee, explaining why her co-stars on The Real Housewives of Beverly Hills have not yet been introduced to him.
The 54-year-old media personality disclosed that no such introductions have occurred, stating that the decision was deliberate and motivated by a desire to preserve the integrity of the relationship. In an interview with Us Weekly, Ms Jayne indicated that, based on her prior experiences, public exposure of a relationship can be detrimental, and she therefore prefers to keep the matter private.
Ms Jayne, who remains estranged from her former husband, Thomas Girardi, elaborated that she has endured significant personal challenges and wishes to maintain her current relationship in a separate and protected sphere. Her previous marriage, including its dissolution, was documented on the Bravo series and culminated in Mr Girardi’s recent sentencing to seven years’ imprisonment for embezzlement-related offences.
Regarding her current partner, Ms Jayne noted that Mr McPhee has not watched The Real Housewives of Beverly Hills and lacks familiarity with the program. She further revealed on her Diamonds in the Rough podcast that Mr McPhee has indirect ties to reality television through his employment as a private security guard for The Hills personality Heidi Montag.
Over the summer, the couple was photographed together in public, including an instance in which they were seen holding hands prior to visiting a nail salon. Ms Jayne later remarked that the outing had been unplanned.
Appearing on Watch What Happens Live, Ms Jayne confirmed that the relationship has been ongoing for approximately six months, having begun after the pair met in London earlier in the year. She also commented candidly on her past romantic choices, while clarifying that she considers her current partner to be a kind and suitable individual.
Ms Jayne further disclosed that she and Mr McPhee intend to spend the forthcoming holidays together. She recounted that their initial meeting occurred following a chance encounter with Ms Montag at a London event, during which she approached Mr McPhee and introduced herself.
Although Mr McPhee typically works behind the scenes, he maintains a substantial social media presence and has a longstanding professional and personal relationship with Ms Montag and her husband, Spencer Pratt.
