Actress Alyssa Milano has continued a personal practice she began in 2020 of commemorating her birthday by sharing a make-up-free photograph of herself on social media. To mark her 53rd birthday, the former Charmed star posted an unfiltered, close-up image on Instagram, describing it as her “annual birthday selfie.”
In accompanying commentary, Ms Milano clarified that while the image was presented without cosmetics, she has previously undergone cosmetic enhancements, including microblading of her eyebrows, as well as Botox and dermal filler injections. She expressly acknowledged these procedures while affirming the photograph accurately reflects her current appearance at age 53.
Ms Milano, who is married to talent agent David Bugliari and is a mother of two, further disclosed that she had written a poem in observance of her birthday and stated that her personal wish was to see an increased number of women elected to public office. In furtherance of that objective, she encouraged her followers to make donations to the political organization Emerge America.
The birthday post follows a prior public announcement made less than three months earlier, in which Ms Milano revealed that she had undergone surgery to remove her breast implants. In that statement, she explained that the decision was part of a broader effort to relinquish what she described as a body image shaped by sexualization and abuse, and to reject the belief that physical augmentation was necessary for attractiveness, success, or personal fulfillment.
In a detailed Instagram statement shared at the time, Ms Milano emphasized that her decision was a personal one and acknowledged that other women may find empowerment or confidence in choosing to have breast implants. She expressly stated that her experience should not be construed as a judgment of others’ choices, noting that each individual is entitled to define femininity and self-worth on their own terms.
Ms Milano also cited the openness of other public figures regarding similar experiences as a source of inspiration and stated that, in removing her implants, she sought to embrace what she described as her authentic self. She concluded by affirming that her sense of love, femininity, attractiveness, and professional success exists independently of cosmetic augmentation.#newsafro_
