Nollywood actress Tonto Dikeh has publicly provided a testimony regarding her reported cessation of smoking, alcohol consumption, masturbation, and longstanding issues with anger during a Sunday service conducted at Streams of Joy International Church.
According to a video published by DCLImagery on YouTube on Sunday, the testimony was delivered during the New Season Prophetic Prayers and Declarations service, presided over by Pastor Jerry Eze, the founder of the church.
In her address to the congregation, Dikeh stated that she commenced smoking at the age of thirteen (13) and experienced prolonged struggles with alcohol use and masturbation. She attributed her reported transformation to divine intervention.
Specifically, she declared: “I smoked since I was 13. God healed me from masturbation, too. I have known myself to have sexual intercourse in the dream ever since I was a child.”
Dikeh characterized her presence at the altar as both a testimony and an act of thanksgiving, acknowledging that she initially considered withdrawing due to concerns regarding her public image. She stated: “The devil tried to tell me that I was supposed to protect my image. But I told myself, what image? The God that gave me the image is the same God that can take it away.”
Furthermore, Dikeh explained that following her attendance at the Ghana Prayer Conference, she observed a change she described as a release from years of spiritual oppression. She noted: “I realized that the weak man who held me captive all my years in my dream ran away,” identifying this as a turning point in her spiritual life.
The actress also discussed prior struggles with what she characterized as “demonic anger,” which she stated negatively affected her relationships and personal life: “An anger that destroyed my life. Everybody had to feel it. But praying with NSPPD, God took all of those away and gave me peace.”
Dikeh reported that she had not experienced peace until recently, stating: “I am 40 years old, and I can tell you I have never known peace until now. I am living in it.”
She further disclosed that her smoking habit persisted for approximately twenty-seven (27) years, which she indicated originated from exposure to her father’s smoking, and advised parents to prevent children from adopting harmful habits: “I started smoking because my dad was a smoker. Something as little as that habit can inhabit the lives of your children.”
Dikeh asserted that after seeking divine assistance through prayer, she no longer experiences cravings for cigarettes or alcohol, stating: “My body does not ask for it. My body is repelling it. Today, it is broken.”
Pastor Eze subsequently prayed on behalf of the actress, declaring that “the body of sin is broken” and identifying her as “a voice in her generation.”
In addition to the verbal testimony, Dikeh shared photographs from the church service on her Instagram account, captioning them as: “A living testimony of mercy. One God spared, restored, and commissioned.”
Dikeh has in recent months publicly discussed her renewed Christian faith, characterizing her current spiritual journey as one defined by peace, restoration, and commitment to religious service.#newsafro_
