The comedian Andy Dick was reportedly found unresponsive in Hollywood on Tuesday, in circumstances consistent with a suspected overdose.
Photographs published by TMZ depict Mr. Dick seated on an exterior stairway during daylight hours, appearing incapacitated while bystanders attempted to render assistance. The 59-year-old entertainer was observed leaning forward with his eyeglasses on the ground nearby. Requests for comment from his representatives remain unanswered as of the time of publication.
According to witness accounts, individuals identified as acquaintances of Mr. Dick attempted to rouse him and urged him to regain consciousness, while others contacted emergency services. Some bystanders allegedly requested the administration of Narcan, a medication used to counteract the effects of opioid exposure. Reports indicate that the medication was administered on site.
A spokesperson for the Los Angeles Fire Department subsequently informed TMZ that emergency personnel responded to a call regarding a 59-year-old male experiencing an overdose-related medical emergency. The spokesperson further stated that the individual declined transport to a medical facility after receiving on-scene assistance. The publication noted that such refusals are not uncommon following administration of Narcan.
Los Angeles Police Department officers also responded to the incident pursuant to the 911 call.
Mr. Dick later provided a brief statement to TMZ, indicating that he was grateful to be unharmed following the incident, though he declined to elaborate on the circumstances.#newsafro_
