Francesca Scorsese, daughter of filmmaker Martin Scorsese, recently disclosed that she has been mispronouncing her surname throughout her life. The 26-year-old made the admission in an Instagram video posted with Fox Nation to promote an upcoming episode of the docudrama series Martin Scorsese Presents: The Saints. Francesca stated that she had been pronouncing her last name as “Scor-say-see,” while the correct pronunciation is “Scor-sezz-ee.” She acknowledged occasionally alternating between the two pronunciations in her videos.
Francesca is the youngest daughter of Martin Scorsese and his wife Helen Morris, who has been living with Parkinson’s disease since 1990. Scorsese also has two other daughters: Cathy, 59, with his first wife Laraine Marie Brennan, and Domenica, 49, with his second wife, Julia Cameron.
Francesca has cultivated a substantial social media presence on TikTok and Instagram, often featuring content with her father. She has explained that audiences appreciate seeing a more personal and relatable side of the director. In November 2024, she shared a TikTok video celebrating her father’s birthday, and in September, she posted rare footage of her mother Helen, acknowledging her resilience and encouraging followers to express love and appreciation for their parents.
Francesca and her father recently completed production on the second season of Martin Scorsese Presents: The Saints, an eight-episode series set to premiere on Fox Nation on December 7. In addition, Martin Scorsese’s life and career were recently chronicled in the five-part documentary Mr. Scorsese, now available on Apple TV, which includes interviews with colleagues and collaborators such as Robert De Niro, Leonardo DiCaprio, and Steven Spielberg. Francesca has previously appeared in cameo roles in her father’s films, including The Aviator, The Departed, and Hugo.#newsafro_
