Olivia Attwood has formally acknowledged a recent health-related incident that resulted in her unexpected withdrawal from an intended appearance on Loose Women moments before the live broadcast.
The 34-year-old media personality and former Love Island contestant had been scheduled to appear alongside Kaye Adams, Nadia Sawalha, and Jane Moore; however, upon commencement of the program, her absence was noted.
Subsequently, Ms Attwood issued a public statement accompanied by a photograph depicting a medical professional attending to her. She explained that her physical condition deteriorated upon arrival at the studio, necessitating immediate medical attention. She apologized to viewers, stating: “I’m really sorry to anyone who was expecting me on Loose Women today. I arrived for work and my body essentially shut down. Thank you to the team for looking after me. I’ll be back soon.”
Later, via TikTok, she disclosed that she had been diagnosed with strep throat and influenza, conditions which she stated had significantly impaired her capacity to function. She described herself as feeling “defeated” and indicated that she had been instructed by medical professionals to rest for a minimum of 24 hours.
Ms Attwood further commented on her difficulty complying with rest requirements, attributing this to longstanding personal tendencies to remain active and productive. She noted that remaining sedentary poses a challenge for her and sought advice from followers on how best to adhere to her prescribed recovery period, given an upcoming intensive schedule.
In subsequent social media interactions, including on Instagram, she confirmed that her symptoms had progressed from a chest infection to strep throat and then to flu-like complications, stating she had been unable to recover fully. She also acknowledged experiencing emotional distress associated with slowing down and expressed concern that she had disappointed colleagues and viewers.
Supportive messages from followers were widely posted in response, offering well wishes and entertainment suggestions to assist her during her recovery.
Earlier in the year, it had been publicly announced that Ms Attwood would join the roster of presenters on This Morning.#newsafro_
