Ruth Langsford has disclosed that she engaged in therapeutic counseling to manage the emotional and psychological impact associated with her contentious separation from her husband, Eamonn Holmes.
The Loose Women presenter described the difficulties surrounding the dissolution of their 14-year marriage, during which Mr. Holmes commenced a subsequent relationship with Ms. Katie Alexander, a relationship counselor approximately 22 years his junior.
Ms. Langsford, who shares an adult son, Jack, with Mr. Holmes, stated that counseling assisted her in analyzing and understanding the dynamics of their 27-year relationship, which formally ended in June 2024. She noted:
“I commenced counseling when Eamonn and I separated, and I continue to attend. It is highly effective and provides me with tools to manage circumstances. My counselor may have seen us on television, but she does not know either of us, does not intervene, and does not judge. She listens and asks, ‘Have you considered this?’ or ‘Why did you feel that way?’ It has had a calming effect and prompts me to examine my own feelings.”
Reflecting on prior loss, she added that her earlier refusal of counseling following her sister’s death stemmed from a reluctance to be told what she already understood—that she was grieving. She observed that the termination of a long-term relationship requires considerable emotional processing, and that counseling facilitates progression rather than stagnation.
Both parties, aged 65, publicly announced their separation 18 months prior, following a period of sustained disagreement. Mr. Holmes subsequently vacated the £2.5 million marital residence in Weybridge.
Sources close to Ms. Langsford suggested she had become fatigued by her role in assisting him following a hip operation; however, it later became known that Mr. Holmes had formed a relationship with Ms. Alexander, whom he had met several years earlier. There is no allegation or indication that Mr. Holmes engaged in extramarital conduct during the marriage. The pair previously co-hosted ITV’s This Morning for a decade prior to their departure from the program in 2021.
The parties have not yet legally dissolved the marriage and are reportedly engaged in financial disputes. Ms. Langsford is said to be dissatisfied with the necessity of selling the marital home, while Mr. Holmes asserts that he has experienced significant financial hardship due to ongoing proceedings with HMRC concerning his employment status at ITV between 2011 and 2015.
Ms. Langsford has now indicated that she is prepared to consider new romantic prospects.
Discussing her outlook, she stated:
“I now see light ahead where previously I saw none. The fear has subsided. One must either collapse under pressure or prevail, and I intend to prevail.”
During a seasonal photoshoot in her home, Ms. Langsford appeared in a red, fitted, sequined gown in one image and in a tartan cape with heeled boots in another.
When asked whether she would contemplate a new relationship or remarriage, she replied:
“Never say never. I have not been dissuaded from entering another relationship or even marriage. I am simply not actively seeking one, as I have come to recognize that I am capable and independent on my own.
