In the latest episode of The Kardashians, Kim Kardashian’s 12-year-old daughter, North West, again offered candid commentary on her mother’s wardrobe choices, stating that “people hate” on her outfits “every year.”
Ms. Kardashian, 45, appeared largely unfazed by the remark.
The episode depicts the hours leading up to the 2025 Met Gala, showing Ms. Kardashian preparing for the event. She explained that North had visited her the prior evening with a balloon reading “Good Luck” and a bouquet of flowers, which Ms. Kardashian described as uplifting.
Despite the support, Ms. Kardashian expressed concern about a complication involving her custom Chrome Hearts black leather dress and the potential public response, noting she briefly considered withdrawing from the event.
North responded pragmatically, telling her: “What’s the worst that could happen? People hate on your outfit? They do that every year. You just have to go.”
Ms. Kardashian acknowledged that her daughter’s straightforward advice helped motivate her.
Her styling team ultimately resolved the dress issue by cutting the garment into two pieces to correct its proportions.
At the Met Gala, Ms. Kardashian told Vogue that North is “a significant critic” of her fashion choices, though she has become increasingly constructive in how she expresses her views. Ms. Kardashian added that North is currently in a positive and supportive mindset, encouraging others to embrace what they personally enjoy, even if she does not share those preferences.
This episode is not the first time North has expressed strong opinions regarding her mother’s attire. Previous seasons documented North describing Ms. Kardashian’s 2023 Met Gala look—an ensemble adorned with thousands of pearls—as resembling inexpensive costume materials, and comparing Ms. Kardashian’s 2021 Balenciaga gown to a “plastic bag.”
