Nina Dobrev issued a video statement on the social media platform TikTok, in the context of reports that her former fiancé, Shaun White, was allegedly observed engaging in a social interaction with reality television personality Brooks Nader.
Dobrev, age 36, previously terminated her engagement with White, an Olympic snowboarder, in early September 2025, following a romantic relationship of approximately five years. At the time, sources described Dobrev as “devastated” by the conclusion of the relationship.
On Wednesday, approximately two months subsequent to the engagement’s termination, sources reported witnessing White and Nader in a conversation outside an Alice + Olivia event in New York City. Eyewitnesses reported that White remained outside Nader’s vehicle for an estimated five minutes, during which he allegedly provided Nader with his cellular device to facilitate the exchange of contact information. These observations were reported to JustJared.
Dobrev did not explicitly address White or the alleged interaction; however, she posted a video to TikTok which has been widely interpreted by observers as a response to the reported events. In the video, Dobrev is seen gesturing with her middle finger in coordination with the lyrics of Ariana Grande’s 2014 song Break Free featuring Zedd, specifically the line, “if you want it, take it.” At a subsequent lyric, “Try to hide it, fake it,” Dobrev substituted the middle finger with the ring finger while smiling. Upon the lyric, “I can’t pretend anymore,” she resumed the original gesture, accompanied by a facial expression of displeasure.
Observers on social media interpreted the video as being directed at White. Commenters on the platform expressed support for Dobrev and highlighted her perceived personal transformation following the dissolution of the relationship.
Dobrev and White initiated their romantic relationship during the COVID-19 pandemic. White proposed in October 2024, presenting Dobrev with a five-carat Lorraine Schwartz diamond ring. Reports regarding the termination of the engagement indicate that the parties’ primary point of contention related to differing perspectives on family planning. One source stated that Dobrev desired marriage and children, whereas White did not. Other sources have disputed this characterization, indicating that both parties reportedly desired marriage and children and had been planning a future together.
Multiple sources have emphasized that no infidelity occurred during the course of the five-and-a-half-year relationship, characterizing the parties as “very loyal” and describing online speculation to the contrary as “ridiculous,” as reported by Us Weekly.
