On Saturday afternoon, actress Jennifer Garner was observed spending time with her and Ben Affleck’s middle child, Fin Affleck, aged sixteen, in Los Angeles. The Alias alum, aged fifty-three, appeared in good spirits as she and Fin, who identifies with they/them pronouns, engaged in casual conversation while completing various errands around the city.
Ms. Garner was dressed in a white and black striped sweater, black sweatpants, and sneakers. She appeared without makeup, wore her brunette hair in a bun, and accessorized with glasses. Fin, meanwhile, adopted an outfit consistent with Mr. Affleck’s characteristic casual aesthetic, consisting of baggy jeans, a pullover sweatshirt, and sneakers. They carried a brown leather crossbody bag and wore their hair in a short-cropped style.
Fin has recently displayed an affinity for their father’s understated “sweater weather” fashion style. Earlier in the week, they were photographed in Los Angeles wearing a navy crewneck sweater featuring a The Smiths logo, paired with jeans, blue and white sneakers, and the same leather messenger bag.
Previously known as Seraphina Rose, Fin publicly introduced their new name during a memorial service held in April 2024 for Jennifer Garner’s late father, William Jack Garner. The service, which took place at Christ Church United Methodist in Charleston, West Virginia, was broadcast live via Facebook. Wearing a black pantsuit and sporting a buzz-cut hairstyle, Fin addressed the congregation, stating: “Hello, my name is Fin Affleck,” before reading Proverbs 16:8: “Better is a little with righteousness, than a large income with injustice.”
Ms. Garner confirmed her father’s passing, at the age of eighty-five, in an Instagram post dated April 1, 2024. In her statement, she paid tribute to his “gentle demeanor and quiet strength,” his humor, and his steadfast devotion as a “patient girl dad,” expressing gratitude for his faith, leadership, and work ethic.
In addition to Fin, Ms. Garner and Mr. Affleck share two other children: Violet, aged nineteen, currently enrolled at Yale University, and Samuel, aged thirteen. The couple, who legally separated in 2015 and finalized their divorce in 2018, have continued to maintain an amicable co-parenting relationship.
In a March interview with GQ, Mr. Affleck described Ms. Garner as “a really good co-parent and partner,” emphasizing their shared commitment to raising their children responsibly and shielding them from the distortions of public scrutiny. He noted that the former spouses made concerted efforts to explain media misinformation to their children during their formative years.
Ms. Garner, for her part, has also spoken publicly about her evolved perspective on their post-divorce relationship. In a 2021 interview with The Hollywood Reporter, she expressed optimism about the future, remarking that when their children eventually marry, she and Mr. Affleck “will dance” and “have a great time,” affirming that she no longer holds anxiety about such moments.#newsafro_
