The couple disclosed their relationship in June of this year.
The announcement was made during Ms. Almánzar’s appearance on CBS Mornings with host Gayle King, where the Grammy Award-winning artist stated: “I’m having a baby with my boyfriend Stefon Diggs. I’ve been putting in all this work, but I’m doing all this work while I’m creating a baby.”
Ms. Almánzar presently shares three children with her former partner, the recording artist Offset.
Ms. Belcalis Almánzar, professionally known as Cardi B, further stated that she is content with her current circumstances, remarking that both she and Mr. Stefon Diggs are mutually supportive of one another and aligned in their professional pursuits. She emphasized that they “are the best at what [they] do” and expressed confidence in the strength of their relationship. The child is expected to be born in February.
Ms. Almánzar praised their shared ambition, noting that both she and Mr. Diggs are determined to achieve greatness in their respective fields. She credited Mr. Diggs with providing her a sense of stability as she prepares for the release of her forthcoming album, Am I The Drama?, which includes a track entitled Safe. According to her statement, Mr. Diggs “makes [her] feel safe and very confident and very strong.”
She further disclosed that, two weeks prior, she experienced a panic attack characterized by prolonged crying due to anxiety regarding the rollout of her album and the accompanying public scrutiny. Ms. Almánzar explained that negative public commentary and criticism—particularly in response to a recent publicity effort—has at times caused her to question whether to release new music, notwithstanding the support of her partner.
In her remarks to Ms. Gayle King, Ms. Belcalis Almánzar, professionally known as Cardi B, explained that public criticism of her music can be deeply discouraging, stating: “This is why I don’t put music out, because it’s like, this is my art and this is something that I put a lotta love and time to. And it’s just like, sometimes, when people just rip it apart it just hurts you and it crushes you.”
She credited her partner, Mr. Stefon Diggs, with reinforcing her self-assurance, noting that his support makes her feel as though she “could take over the world.”
Ms. Almánzar further disclosed that she intentionally delayed her pregnancy announcement until certain contractual and professional matters were finalized. She also admitted, in a lighthearted aside, that she has yet to inform her parents of the pregnancy, remarking that she is “scared of them.”
It is of record that Ms. Almánzar publicly confirmed her relationship with Mr. Diggs, wide receiver for the New England Patriots, on June 1 by going “Instagram official.”#newsafro_
