Comedian Roseanne Barr, age 72, issued a series of disparaging remarks on social media concerning radio host Howard Stern, age 71, following his broadcast of a prank regarding the purported cancellation of his radio program.
In response to a user on the platform X (formerly Twitter), Ms. Barr expressed her personal views about Mr. Stern, asserting that he “always lacked merit” and characterizing him as a “boot-licking coward.” These comments followed Mr. Stern’s on-air discussion of a meme she had previously posted about him, which he described as “weird.”
Ms. Barr subsequently escalated her commentary by posting: “Howard Stern still having a hard time realizing he is a coward now.”
Former talk show host Roseanne Barr, 72, published a series of pointed remarks on social media regarding Howard Stern, 71, in response to comments he made on The Howard Stern Show.
Barr accused Stern of having abandoned his prior reputation as a “bastion of free speech,” alleging that he had become a “shill” for political and cultural movements she opposes. She further suggested that “perhaps one day before he truly retires, he will realize where he went wrong shilling for fascists and pro–cancel culture.”
The dispute followed Stern’s on-air reaction to a digitally altered image Barr had circulated, which depicted him and Stephen Colbert in bikinis. Stern, laughing at the meme, described Barr as a “weirdo” and “braindead,” adding that she appeared to have “gone mad.”
Barr responded by both criticizing Stern’s current persona and simultaneously acknowledging his legacy in radio broadcasting. In one tweet, she stated: “To be fair, Howard Stern is still the greatest who ever did it. He is all the faces of radio Mt. Rushmore.” However, she concluded by reiterating her belief that he had become subservient to external pressures, while inviting reconciliation under different circumstances: “If he wants to reclaim himself one day, he will always have a seat at my table.”
Stern’s comments came amid unfounded rumors that his long-running radio show was ending, which he addressed by dismissing speculation — including one theory linking his cats’ health to his supposed departure — as “nonsense.”#newsafro_
