Netflix has publicly disclosed, through the release of an official promotional image, the character to be portrayed by Ms. Stefani Germanotta, professionally known as Lady Gaga, in the forthcoming second season of the television series Wednesday.
The image depicts Ms. Germanotta, age 39, in character alongside “Thing,” a recurring anthropomorphic hand featured in the series. According to official statements disseminated via the verified X (formerly Twitter) account of the series, Ms. Germanotta shall assume the role of “Rosaline Rotwood,” identified as an instructor at Nevermore Academy and positioned to engage with the principal character, Wednesday Addams (portrayed by Jenna Ortega).
It is further represented that Ms. Germanotta’s appearance will coincide with her anticipated performance at the MTV Video Music Awards and that she will debut a new composition, entitled The Dead Dance, in connection with the program’s release on September 3.
In the promotional image, Ms. Germanotta is styled with platinum-blonde curls, a blue silk blouse, and makeup designed to emphasize a dramatic contrast in complexion. Social media commentary, immediately following the release, demonstrates widespread approbation from viewers, who expressed significant enthusiasm and anticipation regarding both her visual presentation and her forthcoming performance within the series.
The release of the aforementioned promotional image coincides with confirmation that Ms. Stefani Germanotta, professionally known as Lady Gaga, shall resume live performance at the MTV Video Music Awards (“VMAs”) following a five-year hiatus.
It has been publicly represented that Ms. Germanotta, who is presently engaged in her internationally sold-out “Mayhem Ball Tour,” has been formally added to the performance roster for the forthcoming ceremony. On September 7, 2025, said event is scheduled to occur at the UBS Arena located in Elmont, New York.
The official Instagram account of the VMAs has promoted Ms. Germanotta’s participation with the assertion that “there will be magic in the air” as she delivers selections from her current repertoire. She is to appear alongside a slate of other recording artists, including, inter alia, Doja Cat, Mariah Carey, Jelly Roll, Sabrina Carpenter, Post Malone, Tate McRae, and J Balvin.
It is further noted that Ms. Germanotta attended the “Wednesday Graveyard Gala,” an official promotional event for Netflix’s Wednesday series, in New York City earlier in the week, in advance of her cameo appearance in the program’s second season.
For historical context, Ms. Germanotta’s most recent VMAs performance occurred in 2020, wherein she appeared jointly with Ariana Grande to perform their chart-topping collaboration Rain On Me.
