Veteran Ghanaian High life musician Mr. Nana Acheampong has announced the forthcoming release of a tribute song in honor of his colleague and friend, Mr. Daddy Lumba, who passed away on Saturday, July 26, 2025. The song, titled Due k Fosu, is scheduled for release on Thursday, August 21, 2025.
In a Facebook post on Wednesday, Mr. Acheampong stated: ‘A tribute song to Daddy Lumba drops on Thursday 21st August 2025. Due! K, Fosu. In the realm of Ghanaian music, few names shine as brightly as my brother. A trailblazer, an icon, a legend. His passing leaves a void that can never be filled. But as we mourn his departure, we also celebrate his life, his music, his enduring legacy. I pay my heartfelt tribute to Kojo Fosu with a soul-stirring song that captures the essence of our bond and the impact of his music on generations.’
Last month, Mr. Acheampong publicly expressed grief and shock at Mr. Lumba’s passing, addressing him by his birth name, Charles Kojo Fosu: ‘It has been difficult for me to accept this sad news. Menua Kojo Fosu, why this shock? Hmmm, you have indeed done what the creator brought you on earth to do; you will forever inspire generations.’
Mr. Acheampong, who formed the musical duo the Lumba Brothers with Mr. Lumba, described his colleague as a brother and a legend, offering condolences to the Fosu family: ‘My family and I are in pain. To the family of my beloved brother, may God hold you tight in this moment.’
The Lumba Brothers, comprising Mr. Nana Acheampong and Mr. Daddy Lumba, were influential figures in Ghana’s Highlife music scene during the 1980s and 1990s, producing several notable works including the album Yɛɛyɛ Aka Akwantuo Mu, released in 1989.
