Grammy-winning Nigerian recording artist Mr. Burna Boy has achieved the record for the most entries by an African artist on the U.S. Billboard Hot 100 chart. His collaborative track with American rapper Gunna, entitled ‘WGFT’ from Gunna’s album The Last Wun, debuted at number 96 on the Billboard Hot 100 for the current week, bringing Mr. Burna Boy’s cumulative entries to seven.
Additionally, Mr. Burna Boy is the first African artist to debut a song on the Billboard Hot 100 chart in five consecutive years (2021 through 2025). His initial appearance on the chart occurred in 2021 with the single ‘Loved By You,’ a collaboration with Canadian artist Justin Bieber, and his first solo entry occurred in 2022 with ‘Last Last,’ which peaked at number 44.
Mr. Burna Boy also holds the record for the most entries by an African artist on the UK Singles Chart (26 entries) and the Canadian Hot 100 (11 entries). In October 2024, Apple Music recognized Mr. Burna Boy as the most-streamed Nigerian artist, followed by Mr. Wizkid and Mr. Davido.#newsafro_
