Joe Giudice, aged 53 and father of four, disclosed during an appearance on his daughter Gia Giudice’s podcast, Casual Chaos, the compensation received by his former spouse, Teresa Giudice, for her participation in the inaugural season of The Real Housewives of New Jersey.
Giudice, who is presently seeking a presidential pardon from Donald J. Trump, stated that Teresa earned approximately $25,000 for the 2009 season, characterizing the sum as inadequate. He remarked: ‘We got paid nothing the first season. I’ll even say… it was like $25,000. I mean, it was ridiculous, but whatever.’
Giudice further stated that the expenses incurred during the first season of The Real Housewives of New Jersey exceeded the compensation received. He recalled hosting a large gathering in his residence, remarking: ‘I think the first year, we had that big party in my great room. I think that show cost me $150,000 the first year.’
During the same discussion, his daughter Gia Giudice observed that cast members typically receive limited remuneration during their inaugural season, with salaries increasing in subsequent years. She explained that expenses related to hosting events often surpass initial earnings, but that such practices are considered customary for new cast members seeking to establish their presence on the program. Gia, now a cast member of the network’s Next Gen NYC spinoff, added: ‘When you’re throwing parties and stuff like that, especially for the first season, you’re putting in more money than you’re actually getting out of it.’
Both Gia and Joe confirmed that, during the marriage, he and Teresa Giudice regularly hosted social gatherings, with Joe noting: ‘I didn’t care. I mean, every weekend, I had people at my house.’
Giudice also addressed a controversial incident broadcast during the series in which he was recorded using derogatory language toward Teresa. He acknowledged the conduct, stating: ‘The one up where we were at the vignette or something. I called your mother something. I know it wasn’t very nice. That was just out of pure, you know, drinking wine and enough was enough.’ He further emphasized his disapproval of such language, declaring: ‘I don’t even use that word. I hate that word. Why it came out of my mouth, I have no idea.’
Joseph Giudice and Teresa Giudice are the parents of four daughters: Gia (24), Gabriella (20), Milania (19), and Audriana (16, as of September). Both former spouses served terms of imprisonment for financial fraud offenses.
Upon completion of his custodial sentence in 2019, Joseph Giudice was deported to Italy. Later that same year, the parties publicly announced their separation, and their divorce was formally finalized in September 2020.
Teresa subsequently entered into matrimony with Luis ‘Louie’ Ruelas in 2022.
