It is hereby noted that Ms. Diana Ross, aged 81, an internationally renowned recording artist and actress, has withdrawn from her previously scheduled appearance aboard Royal Caribbean International’s Star of the Seas showcase cruise. Said engagement was to include her participation in the vessel’s official naming ceremony and an inaugural performance, scheduled to commence on or about August 20, 2025.
Royal Caribbean had, in June 2025, formally designated Ms. Ross as “Godmother” of the Star of the Seas, a vessel classified within its Icon Class fleet, and publicly announced her intent to officiate the naming ceremony and to perform in connection therewith. The showcase voyage was scheduled to embark from Port Canaveral, Florida, with an itinerary including, inter alia, a stop at Perfect Day at CocoBay, Bahamas.
On or about August 12, 2025, Ms. Ross’s authorized representative issued a statement to People magazine, advising that, “Due to unforeseen circumstances, Diana Ross will be unable to appear.” No further factual details regarding the nature or cause of said unforeseen circumstances were provided.
Royal Caribbean, through its spokesperson, expressed disappointment at Ms. Ross’s withdrawal, confirmed that an alternate “Godmother” will be appointed and announced in due course, and reaffirmed the corporation’s appreciation for Ms. Ross’s prior acceptance of the honor.
It remains anticipated that Ms. Ross will commence her previously announced “Beautiful Love” United States concert tour on August 16, 2025, in Saratoga, California.#newsafro_
