On Saturday, Ms. Selena Gomez, aged 32, was in attendance at the wedding ceremony of recording artist and comedian Mr. David “Lil Dicky” Burd and his fiancée, producer Ms. Kristin Batalucco. The event was described as a lavish seaside affair.
Ms. Gomez elected to wear a red halter-style dress paired with matching pumps — attire which, in many Western cultural contexts, is considered a social impropriety on the basis that such a vivid color may be perceived as drawing attention away from the couple being honored. Notwithstanding such conventions, there was no public indication that the bride, aged 34, took offense.
Ms. Gomez attended the ceremony in the company of her fiancé, Mr. Benny Blanco, who had proposed on December 10 with an eight-carat marquise-cut diamond engagement ring following approximately eighteen months of courtship.
Mr. Benny Blanco, aged 37, appeared at the aforementioned nuptial event attired in a casual blue tracksuit, black sandals, and multiple gold necklaces. Mr. Blanco has a prior professional association with the groom, Mr. David “Lil Dicky” Burd, having appeared in eight episodes of Mr. Burd’s former FXX television series Dave. In turn, Mr. Burd has appeared in two of Mr. Blanco’s music videos, Graduation and I Found You.
Ms. Gomez, who maintains a social media following of approximately 654.8 million, restricted public commentary on her Instagram slideshow documenting the occasion. The photographic postings appeared, in part, to serve as a promotional vehicle for her inaugural Rare Beauty fragrance, Rare Eau de Parfum.
On July 25, Ms. Gomez, a two-time Grammy Award nominee, disclosed that she intends to serve her grandmother’s recipe for biscuits and gravy in lieu of a traditional multi-tiered cake at her forthcoming wedding to Mr. Blanco. Ms. Gomez has further indicated that she does not intend to convert to Mr. Blanco’s Jewish faith.
The parties first met in 2008, when Ms. Gomez was 16 years old, during a business meeting. Mr. Blanco later contributed to the production of her second studio album, Revival (2015), and her 2023 single, Single Soon. The couple, publicly known for the phrase “I Said I Love You First,” jointly acquired a marital residence in Beverly Hills in December for a reported purchase price of $35 million. The property is described as containing seven bedrooms and twelve bathrooms.
Ms. Gomez’s prior residence was a $4.9 million, six-bedroom property in Encino, where she resided with her grandparents, while Mr. Blanco previously owned a $9.2 million, five-bedroom home in the Hollywood Hills.
Professionally, Ms. Gomez has served as executive producer and reprised her role as Mabel Mora in the fifth season of the Steve Martin and John Hoffman comedy series Only Murders in the Building, scheduled to premiere September 9 on Hulu. Reports indicate that Ms. Gomez, along with co-stars Mr. Steve Martin and Mr. Martin Short, receive compensation exceeding $600,000 per episode for their combined work as both performers and producers on the critically acclaimed production.#newsafro_
