Actress Jaime King is currently facing legal proceedings over her alleged failure to pay attorney’s fees exceeding $100,000, arising from her divorce from former spouse Kyle Newman.
Pursuant to a recent court order obtained by the Daily Mail, King has been compelled to appear before the court to disclose details concerning her financial assets, including current bank account balances, in connection with enforcement efforts by her ex-husband’s former legal representatives, the firm of Wasser, Cooperman & Mandles.
In a prior 2024 ruling, King was ordered to remit $98,441.16 to the law firm, where prominent divorce attorney Laura Wasser is a partner. That judgment also included a provision entitling the firm to accrued interest on the outstanding amount. An additional $2,000 has since been added to the total owed.
The Daily Mail has reached out to representatives for both Ms. Jaime King and the law firm Wasser, Cooperman & Mandles for comment, but no responses have been received as of the time of publication.
The Honorable Judge Shelley Kaufman has ordered Ms. King to appear in court on September 16, 2025. Failure to appear may result in the issuance of a bench warrant for her arrest.
This follows an earlier order by Judge Joshua D. Wayser, dated May 14, 2024, directing Ms. King to remit payment within 30 days to the law firm of Wasser, Cooperman & Mandles in the amount of $98,441.16, with additional interest accruing. In his ruling, Judge Wayser stated, “It is appropriate that [Ms. King], the high earner in the marriage, pay those fees,” further noting that the actress had “already agreed to do so.”
Despite the order, the firm asserts that Ms. King has failed to comply with the court’s directive.
In a statement issued to Us Weekly on Thursday, a spokesperson for Ms. King indicated that neither she nor her current legal counsel had been previously aware of the latest filing.
“The continued media attention on the mounting financial and emotional costs of this unnecessarily aggressive divorce highlights the unrelenting pressure Jaime has faced,” the representative stated. “For years, she has endured fear tactics and legal intimidation while doing everything in her power to protect her children and rebuild a stable life for them. Jaime remains committed to healing her family and moving forward with grace. We respectfully request privacy and compassion during this time.”
While legal custody of the former couple’s two sons remains joint, Mr. Newman has been granted temporary “tie-breaking authority” in decision-making concerning the children.
