Subsequently, following the formal acknowledgment of his relationship with JoJo Siwa in June, Mr. Chris Hughes has now addressed the matter publicly for the first time, characterizing his connection with Ms. Siwa as one of intense admiration—stating that he is “obsessed” with the singer.
The relationship, widely regarded as an unexpected development within entertainment circles, began under circumstances that added to the public intrigue, as Ms. Siwa was, at the time of their initial interaction, in a relationship with her former partner, Ms. Kath Ebbs.
During her appearance on Celebrity Big Brother, Ms. JoJo Siwa publicly affirmed her identity as queer and has since openly acknowledged that her current relationship with Mr. Chris Hughes constitutes her first romantic involvement with a man.
In a recent interview with The Sun’s Fabulous Magazine, Mr. Hughes directly responded to allegations that the relationship is inauthentic, stating: “I’ve had more people call me ‘gay’ in the last two months of my life than ever before. But it doesn’t bother me – as long as people aren’t nasty, opinions are fine.”
Mr. Hughes further disclosed that he himself was initially surprised by the unexpected progression of the relationship. Following a series of publicly scrutinized relationships, he had begun to question whether a compatible partner existed for him.
Mr. Chris Hughes elaborated on the emotional depth of the relationship, stating: “Meeting Joelle gave me this magical feeling. She is the most precious person… I’m obsessed with her. I’d do anything for her.”
Addressing the age difference between himself and Ms. Siwa—who is approximately ten years his junior—Mr. Hughes affirmed that it poses no concern to him, asserting the belief that one cannot control whom they fall in love with.
Despite the relatively recent commencement of their relationship, Mr. Hughes expressed a strong conviction regarding its long-term viability. He indicated that he envisions a permanent future with Ms. Siwa, stating: “I do see a forever here… I’d love to marry her. I’d be lying if I didn’t tell you I run through scenarios of our wedding day.”
Furthermore, Mr. Hughes disclosed that both he and Ms. Siwa have expressed a mutual desire to have children and that he has received the full endorsement of her family. This endorsement followed his participation in a family holiday to Orlando in May, during which he accompanied Ms. Siwa, her parents—Ms. Jessalynn Siwa and Mr. Tom Siwa—as well as her brother, Mr. Jayden Siwa, and his fiancée, Ms. Abby.
Mr. Hughes has since been invited to attend a forthcoming family wedding as Ms. Siwa’s guest, signaling a continued deepening of their relationship. However, he confirmed that while the couple remains committed, they do not currently intend to co-habitate and are prepared to maintain a long-distance arrangement for the foreseeable future.
