The track in question, titled Heil Hitler, was released by Mr. West on May 8, 2025, and has been characterized by both media and government officials as promoting Nazism and glorifying Adolf Hitler. Following a reassessment by the Department of Home Affairs, Mr. West’s existing lower-tier visa was revoked on the grounds that the content of the song contravened public interest and character requirements under the Migration Act.
“He’s been coming to Australia for a long time. He’s got family here and he’s made a lot of offensive comments that my officials looked at again,” Mr. Burke stated in an interview with the ABC. “Once he released the Heil Hitler song, he no longer had a valid visa in Australia. It wasn’t a visa for the purpose of concerts—it was a lower-level visa—and the officials still looked at the law and said: if you’re going to have a song that promotes that sort of Nazism, we don’t need that in Australia.”
Mr. West has previously traveled to Australia and was, according to reports, preparing for a private visit to spend time with the family of his spouse, Ms. Bianca Censori, a native of Melbourne.
In May, Mr. West released the music video for a variation of the aforementioned song, titled Heil Hitler (Hooligan Version), which featured lyrics targeting his former spouse, Ms. Kim Kardashian, references to his sexual relationship with Ms. Censori, and continued expressions of admiration for Adolf Hitler.
On May 8, 2025, Mr. Kanye West, age 47, disseminated a video clip via the social media platform X (formerly known as Twitter), in connection with the release of his controversial musical composition Heil Hitler.
