Bethenny Frankel, having transitioned her primary residence from New York to Florida within the past year, has now offered further clarification regarding the rationale behind this relocation.
In an interview with Us Weekly conducted on Tuesday, Ms. Frankel explained that the idea of establishing full-time residence in Florida began to resonate positively with her after she acquired a property in Miami in the preceding year. She described the transition as feeling “different in the right way,” suggesting a sense of alignment between her evolving personal circumstances and the lifestyle offered by her new domicile.
Ms. Bethenny Frankel, aged 54 and known for her role on The Real Housewives of New York City, informed the publication that her time spent at her Florida residence had significantly exceeded her initial expectations.
In light of this extended stay, she began to give earnest consideration to the prospect of permanently relocating both herself and her 15-year-old daughter, Bryn, from their longstanding home in New York to Florida.
Reflecting on her longstanding ties to the state, Ms. Frankel stated, “I attended high school in Florida and have been visiting throughout my entire life — even as a young child, since infancy.”
In describing the circumstances surrounding her relocation, Ms. Frankel stated that, at the time of acquiring her Miami property in 2024, she anticipated residing there only intermittently. “I thought I would be there a certain number of days,” she remarked, noting that her actual time spent in the residence significantly exceeded her original expectations.
Upon further reflection, she acknowledged that even prior to formally deciding to relocate, she began to experience a sense of belonging: “It started to make me feel like, ‘Wait, I really feel like I live there,’ even before this whole decision happened.” She added, “It feels different to live here than to visit. It feels different in the right way.”
Ms. Frankel further confirmed that her minor daughter, Bryn, age 15, has adapted positively to the relocation, stating: “I have a sunshine baby. We are water people.”
The former Real Housewives star publicly announced in April 2025 that she and her daughter were relocating to Florida for “personal and professional reasons,” a declaration that prompted speculation among followers regarding whether political considerations had influenced her decision.
In subsequent statements made in May, Ms. Frankel revealed that the choice to depart New York City stemmed from feelings of being emotionally overwhelmed, stating she “felt like [she] was drowning,” which ultimately led to her decision to seek residence in Florida with her daughter.
Coinciding with these developments, she placed her Connecticut estate—valued at approximately $8 million—on the market.
In a TikTok video published in early May 2025, Ms. Frankel elaborated that an unanticipated series of events catalyzed the move. “The morning of March 19th, this wasn’t even a thought, and by that evening, a series of events transpired and we decided it was the best move to move here,” she stated.#newsafro_
